VALORANT Patch Notes 9.08

October 20, 2024

Riot Games has just released the latest patch notes for Valorant, and there are some exciting changes in store for players. This update focuses on balancing Gekko, improving Yoru's abilities, introducing a new Team Deathmatch map called Glitch, and making some map rotations in the competitive queue. Let's dive into the details!

Agent Updates:

  1. Gekko
  • Globules: Gekko's globules will now remain in the world for 15 seconds (down from 20), and the reclaim time has been increased from 1 second to 1.5 seconds. These changes aim to put pressure on Gekko players to reclaim their globules more quickly and allow for more counterplay from opponents.
  • Dizzy: The time Dizzy remains active after being thrown and forming has been reduced from 1.5 seconds to 1 second. Dizzy's targeting algorithm has also been updated for better reliability, and its goop flash now blinds the minimap of affected players.
  • Wingman: The angle of the cone concuss area has been increased from 45 degrees to 65 degrees, and unique visuals have been added when Wingman turns into a globule after planting the Spike.
  • Thrash: The ultimate points required for Thrash have been increased from 7 to 8.
  1. Yoru
  • Various abilities that previously did not show effects on Yoru's Fakeout clone have been updated to interact properly, making it more challenging to distinguish the clone from the real Yoru.

Map Updates:

  1. Introducing Glitch
  • Glitch is Valorant's newest 5v5 Team Deathmatch map, featuring a dual-themed arena with a "glitched out" Maxbot setting.
  1. Map Rotations
  • Pearl and Split are back in the competitive queue, while Icebox and Lotus have been removed.
  1. Sunset
  • Sunset's B Site has been updated to address defensibility and post-plant situations, providing more ways to play on the site.
